Greanya Legal Services (GLS) is a Paralegal practice located in Whitby, and operating in the Durham Region, Ontario. GLS will also handle cases in other parts of the Greater Toronto Area. Contact GLS concerning a contract, your small claims court matter, your wrongful dismissal or employment law issue, workers compensation (WSIB) claim, or residential landlord and tenant matter. At GLS, you can expect affordable, responsive, and professional service.

Navigating a legal matter is not an easy task, and GLS is ready to advise and assist. While we will obviously handle a case from start to finish, we can also provide assistance at various points in the legal process and provide summary advice.

Greanya Legal Services will provide a free, no obligation thirty minute telephone or email consultation in relation to your legal matter. Contact GLS for more details. The purpose of this consultation is to determine if you have a legal matter that GLS can assist you with, without requiring you to pay a consultation fee. We reserve the right to charge for consultations where legal advice is actually being used to proceed with a matter. If we are going to charge for a consultation, we will advise you prior to the consultation.

Please note that we only provide services in the areas outlined in this website. We do not provide advice or representation related to family law, wills and estates, criminal law, traffic tickets, or provincial offences.

Small Claims (Civil Law) & Debt Collection:

Greanya Legal Services can help you with your small claims or civil law matter under the monetary limit of the Small Claims Court ($35,000.00). In general, this means that we can assist with most claims for money under $35,000.00. This includes but is not limited to personal and commercial or consumer contracts. GLS can assist you with your Small Claims Court action, or provide advice prior to the commencement of a claim.

Wrongful Dismissal:

The employment relationship is a contractual relationship between the employer and employee(s). Ontario law requires reasonable notice or to terminate an employment relationship unless cause can be proven. An employer may also compensate the employee instead of providing notice. If proper notice is not provided, the employee can sue for more compensation. Eligibility depends on your employment contract and a variety of factors related to your personal situation. Unionized employees are not entitled to reasonable notice.

Residential Tenancies (Landlord and Tenant Matters):

Residential tenancies involve a contractual relationship where a landlord provides a tenant(s) with a home for a cost (payment of rent). These matters are covered by contract law, but also by the Residential Tenancies Act. These matters go to the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB).

Some residential tenancies are exempt from the Residential Tenancies Act, and the jurisdiction of the Board (LTB). Disputes regarding these matters may be taken to Small Claims Court as long as the dispute is limited to the payment of money.

Greanya Legal Services will provide advice, advocacy and representation in relation to residential tenancies matters where the Residential Tenancies Act applies, and where the Act does not apply. Contact GLS for more details.
